• How to pitch yeast for beer
    • Define: Pitch yeast into beer means put the yeast into the wort, that’s in the fermenter.
    • Wort needs to be cooled, and aerated.
    • Wort should be below 80 F (26.7 C), to add yeast. IF it’s lager, temperature should be lower.
    • Liquid yeast and Dry yeast
      • Liquid yeast:
      • Dry yeast
        • 1 packet should be enough for 5 gallons (18.9 L)
        • Dry yeast should be hydrated before pitching. Why? Because the sugar in the wort could be too high for the yeast to start drawing enough water for it to start growing
        • Rehydrate dry yeast in warm water (95 to 105 F; 35 – 40 C)
        • Proof the yeast by adding sugar – to see if the yeast is still alive. Yeast should start to foam and churn within 30 mins. If not, then it’s dead.
